I live in Greece, therefore. Since I am no US-Citizen, a VAT number is required in order to get a payment. This means that I will also have to issue an invoice to upwork or the client? I have a VAT number and can issue invoices to Greek clients. But I dont know about international transactions. In any case, I would prefer that upwork charges the VAT and handles all paperwork. Is that possible?

Upwork charges the country-specific Value Added Tax (VAT) to freelancers and agencies in the European Union (EU), unless you provide a valid VAT number. VAT will be assessed on services provided by us, not on services you provide your clients. Please check out this help article and this announcement for more information. Thanks!
