If you finish a fixed-price milestone task, then you should submit the request to be paid for it.

I'm not sure why you wouldn't do so.

But IF YOU DON'T request the money, then yes... eventually Upwork needs to send the money BACK to the client. Because Upwork isn't a bank, and they're trying to follow escrow guidelines with the money that is funded in escrow.

Fixed-price contracts are CLOSED automatically after 90 days if there are escrow funds in the contract, and the money is refunded to the client.

You need to withdraw your earned money in no more than 180 days from when you earned them.
