Downloading word files from messages

This might something that's fixable in settings, but I can't find anything.

I am often sent multiple word files. I would like to be able to download them and then move them straight to a folder. However, the system only allows me to open them and then save them to the file individually. This can be time consuming and awkward, especially when there's many files involved.

So, is there something I can change somewhere? Other types of file are moved to a download folder, so why not word docs?

In context: Request/direct one's client to use an external service, rather than being able to reasonably expect provision of friction-free service by Upwork.

We have a chat room that we're encouraged to use, I like being able to upload/download files there, unless they're so big I can't use it.
So I'm assuming it will work for any file I send/receive 🙄
