End a contract as a Freelancer without completing the job.

Hello everyone, 

I am new on Upwork so please guide me if you can. 

I accepted a contract recently and started working on the project. The client was initially very vague and wanted something else but now he wants something very different. If I had to spend 2-3 hours before, I would now be spending morethan 10 hours. 

It's a fixed price project and there is only one mile-stone i.e. the final delivery, meaning that I havent received any payments yet.

So what are the chances if I end the contract myself and it negatively imapcts my profile? Does the client get a chance to leave a public review if I cancel the project?
