End of the year reporting

Hi:

For more experienced Freelancers, I have a question.    At the end of the year, I think I wind up listing all of my clients individually as sources of income.  BUT do we get a 1099 from Upwork as well or anything from Upwork?

Thanks for the help,

Jen

PS:   Do most of you pay quarterly taxes?

Hi Jennifer,

Are you referring to Form 1099-K? Freelancers who are U.S. persons and receive over $20,000 with more than 200 transactions through Upwork will received the Form 1099-K (not to be confused with the more common 1099-MISC).

I'm not sure if these will help, but I'm sharing these help articles here for your reference:

Avery, can you clarify what counts as a transaction? For 2018, my transaction history shows 415 entries (and my earnings were well above $20k). The prior year was similar, but I've never received a 1099-K, so I'm assuming not everything Upwork labels as a transaction counts as a transaction in this analysis.

Hi Tiffany,

The Customer Support Team looked into your account, and they will reach out to you to explain your transactions further.
