File - Not safe

Hello!

I'm trying to look at a document. I received an invitation to interview but I get the message "It is not safe to download this file. If you really want to access this file please contact Customer Support."

Could some Upwork Moderator help me, please?

Thank you.

Fernanda

Hi Bojan,

PM already sent.

Thanks.

Fernanda

I understand the impulse to protect the unwary, but surely we shouldn't have to email/PM someone and wait for the next day (at least) to get access to a time-sensitive file. The one I have (different from the original poster's, I'm sure, but in the exact same situation) is plain zipped text, not an Office document or Javascript or something. I assure you that I'm capable of defending myself against a mysterious zipfile. Is there any way to bypass this restriction when you know what you're doing? The file in question is

Hi Jennifer,

Do you have the contract ID for this contract? Or was this file sent during an interview?

Yes, during an interview, which is why it was time-sensitive, and why I wouldn't necessarily want to ask the sender (who has no idea they did anything "wrong") for a different copy.

Since you have to be 18 or older to be an Upwork freelancer, wouldn't it be nice if Upwork treated you like an adult?

Exactly. I understand security and liability concerns, but surely some warnings and confirmation steps are more appropriate than making Upwork staff be gatekeepers for every compressed file. (Though I have to admit I'm impressed with getting answers this late in the evening. 🙂 )

That's one of the benefits of a global freelance platform, unless a client from the other side of the globe messages you in the middle of the night.
