Finished work, but no pay or message reply

I completed work for a client, but never received payment and now my messages requesting payment are being unanswered. What do I do?

Hi Kristy,

If you have been hired on a official contract you will need to submit the work on the milestone created for you. After 14 days the funds will be transferred to your account if no actions are taken on the milestone. Keep in mind that if you resubmit the work again you will reset the 14 days period.  Unless the client re-appears and pays you $ 25 you'll get $ 5 after 14 days because that is all that was funded.

Hi Hamad,

If the client has simply stopped responding but the milestone was funded in escrow, then the client has a period of 14 days from the most recent work submission on a milestone to review and request any changes, after which the funds will automatically be released from escrow to you. You don't want to submit the work more than once, since this resets the clock back to the beginning and you will have to wait 14 days from your most recent submission for the funds to be released if the client does not take action on their end. You can have a look at this article about Fixed-Price Protection for more information.

Goran,

I have a similar issue. I submitted work but the client is refusing to pay because they do not like the creative. However, I have spent 10 hours on this work and have submitted 10 different versions. Client wants to just cancel the contract and not pay anything. The money is in escrow though. Can I refuse her cancelation? Thank you!

Hi Anna,

If you are unable to work things out with the client, you most certainly can refuse the refund request caused by the cancellation of the contract. Please check out the information in this article about DIsputing a Client's Failure To Release a Milestone Payment for more information on how to proceed.
