First Job - Question regarding payment

Hi there,
I landed my first job yesterday. It was so exciting!

However, I am not so excited about the payment terms the client proposes. The client said that if I wanted to be paid via upwork, I had to cover transaction fees in my weekly invoices submitted to them.

Is this procedure normal?

Hi Jasmine,

When you`re hired on a contact the freelancer service fee is automatically deducted, clients are paying for their own processing payment fee. 
Please keep in mind that offering or accepting to get paid outside of Upwork is a serious violation of our TOS.
