Fixed Price Proposals

Hello,

I just came across a weired thing for my recent proposals I've made on "Fixed Price" jobs.

After my submission to the client I see that my proposed bid is per hour and NOT as a fixed price.

Is this normal or a bug..?

Have a look at the attached screenshot... 100/hr...

Thanks in adv for your help.

Hi Thomas,

The job you've applied for is a fixed price job. Our team will investigate this further and will reach out to you directly via ticket. Thank you.

Thank you Goran,

the thing is that I have applied at least for 4 more jobs recently  with the same "error" showing all my bids in /hr.. even it was a fixed price job.

Honestly I never really payed attention to this "display error" or "bug" until now.

For sure it needs to be investgated.

In fact I was wondering and puzzled, that I never received an interview anymore for a long long time.

But when a client post a fixed price job 100$ and one bid on this with a 100$/hr it makes sense to me why I was ignored all this time.

Consequently I've lost a lot of connects on this and probably some of the clients might think that I want to fool them with my offer..?

Furthermore my JSS jumped down from 100% to 80%.. ???.. because of this..?

No, your JSS has nothing to do with the proposals you send. Private feedback from ended contracts are pretty much the main impact on JSS.

I noticed the same thing earlier.

Is it supposed to be like that? When I wrote the proposal I've just put $300 as amount. Now it says $300/hr.

It's a known bug, they're looking into it.

Thanks for letting me know. I wonder what clients see then.

I'm wondering the same thing. Is the client seeing $150/hr instead of a fixed price of $150??? If so, I'll sure never get hired for that job!

Hello Petra..

"Known bug" just recently..?

And was it seen by the client as an /hourly proposal..?

Last 24 hours

Everytime, when I bid for a project having One Time Budget but not for hourly, still it is showing me the amount with "/hr". For reference please see the screenshot below:

This project comes with 10$ as the total budget and I applied for that but my bid shows an amount of 10$ per hour. There should be some error with the portal. Please solve this issue. I have already lost many bids due to this error.

Hi Sethi,

I can see you were able to submit a support ticket with our team regarding this. Please allow some time for our team to review and they will update you directly via ticket as soon as possible.

I'm new on upwork My client ask me for quote on fixed price but her proposal that i have bid is hourly job so how i can send him a custom quote

re: "My client ask me for quote on fixed price but her proposal that i have bid is hourly job so how i can send him a custom quote"

Just send a quote in the Upwork Messages tool. Format it like this:

Task: Draw black-and-white picture of a horse weairing a fireman's hat.

Fixed-price quote: $100

I can't understand how to send can you send me a video or screenshots that
explain this process

There is no process. You just talk to the client in messenger, that's all.

Jepp ... exact the same over here..!

It only just started, so anything in the past obviously has nothing to do with this.

That has absolutely nothing whatsoever to do with your JSS. Your JSS dropped because one of your clients wasn't as happy as you may think they were.

You really can't jump the gun and blame everything from a lack of offers to your low JSS (which is more likely the reason for the lack of offers) to global warming and Covid-19 on a brand new bug.

Wow... "global warming and Covid-19 on a brand new bug"  never thought about that..

Maybe it woud be better to adress this to Greta Turnberg then ... ahahah

But nevertheless MY Question just was since when it was known.. and perfectly answered by you Petra.. the ONLY open question is "does the client see this "BUG" on the other end..?

PS: pls don't be so harsh here.. it's X-mas time or..?

Hope you have a nice holiday season..!

I have no idea, I'm afraid.

Bah, Humbug!

re: "the ONLY open question is 'does the client see this "BUG" on the other end..?' "

As a cilent, I hired six freelancers this week.

I have no idea if the bug appears on the client side.

And it wouldn't really matter if the bug only affects fixed-price contracts and if I only hired using hourly contracts.

Because I know how I hired freelancers:
I knew what my goals were. I knew I wanted to hire freelancers to help me accomplish certain tasks. I have hired over 140 freelancers in the past, so I didn't pay attention to all the little writing on all the various screens. When I hire freelancers there are just a few pieces of information I pay attention to, such as the hourly rate or the dollar amount of the escrow payment I'm funding.

If I was hiring using a FIXED-PRICE contract, and was funding a $300 escrow payment, and I saw something that sayd "$300/hr", I would simply assume it is a display error, and think nothing of it. If I worked for Upwork, I might track down the person in charge of fixing the display error. But I don't work for Upwork, so I don't care much one way or the other. I see far worse, far more misleading display errors when I use the websites of my banks, utility companies, IRS, etc.

None of which means that these display Upwork errors shouldn't be fixed. I'm just saying that from one client's perspective, it's not something I have noticed or care about.

Preston, if  you look at my recent post, my real concern is all the garbage on the milestones.

What would you think if you saw that? For me, it looks like the freelancers isn't very careful and I would not want to hire. Your opinion?

I bid on a fixed price contract. Notice the milestones and the amounts. Something not right. I have no idea what the client sees.

Guys, you need to fix this. This is not acceptable. The clients will think all freelancers are crazy. Not a good look.

I want my connects back for all the proposals where this popped up. I'm not going to get the job if the client thinks my hourly rate is USD 300!

Well... this will take some time to calculate Martina but I am 100% on your side on both issues.

I'd really like to know how it looks at the client side, but I suspect it will not appear correctly there either. Has anybody found out yet?

That was my concern in the first place as I found out about this "BUG".

"They will look into it" was the answer so far.

If this issue persist any longer.. How about UPWORK creating a job offer "Looking for a "SPECIALIST WORLDWIDE" paying the Freelancer 300$/hr to  finally SOLVE this mess..!

Yeah let's hope so. I don't see any posts in the client section saying: are all freelancers crazy? Do they really believe I'll pay them 500$/hour when their hourly rate is 50$/hour? But maybe those just went away shaking their head.

I'm having the same issue. I submitted a "Fixed Price" bid but it shows up as an "Hourly" bid!!! Is this how the client will see my bid??? Here's a screen shot:Proposal-Error.jpg

Hi there,

Please help me with the problem of the milestone description. when I submit a proposal I see that my description gets some extra words. Here you will see the selected text in the image and my fixed rate goes on the hourly rate. Please help me with that problemCapture23.PNG

Pic 1 is when i bid on a project (fixed price 400USD)

rahulbadenkal_1-1640436890565.png

Pic 2 is what is being shown after i submit my proposal. Note that the fixed price bid has changed to hourly bid.
Is this a bug? It gives me the impression that i have bid 400/hr for the job which is not what i have done

It's a known bug. I wouldn't expect it to be fixed until after Christmas.
