I am familiar with that client...

Chances are you will get paid according the word count recorded on their system, but not in a timely manner.

re: "So, I still don't know what to do with my current contract with this client. Should I end this or just wait? The longer I wait, the lower JSS I will get."

Waiting longer isn't going to have much (if any) effect on your Job Success Score.

You might as well be patient for another month or two before taking any action.

Maybe the client is busy and will still pay you in the future. I don't know.

Don't do any more work. But don't close the contract yourself. Not yet. Wait a bit.

If the client asks for more work, tell him "yes." Tell him you will do more work after he gets caught up on paying you what he owes you. Then, if he pays you, tell him you will continue to do more work for him if he closes the current contract and sets up a new funded fixed-price contract or an hourly contract.
