Freelance Help: Client wants me to start coming in at a lower position and reduced pay.. what do I d

Hi there!

I work as a freelancer for a company in a senior role at $600/day. I have been working with this client pretty consistently for about a year at 0-3 days a week.

Recently the client asked me if I would be able to start doing a lower level position at $400/day and have this be more of my consistent work with them moving forward. I would enjoy this work MUCH less, and they think I’d be a good fit because of my “experience and eye”. If they want my experience and eye, shouldn’t they match my standard rate?

The role doesn’t require that much less work, and still is a 10 hour booking day, at an office far from my house. Hours don’t change, work load is pretty the same, just a less senior role and more removed from the actual parts of the job I enjoyed.

I don’t want to lose them as a client, but I feel like I’m being taken advantage of. Am I wrong to feel that way? They are like begging me to take on this lower level role they have been having a hard time filling. They say I’d be doing them a big favor if I start doing it, and doing it consistently- but something in my gut feels really off.

They have someone to replace me that they rotate in for the more senior role, but not for the more junior one- which makes me feel like I’d be in the junior/lower paying role much more often moving forward.https://19216881.org/ https://1921681001.link/ https://19216801.digital/

Would love to hear any insight or advice.

Thank you!

You don't seem to have a freelancer profile on Upwork.

So what was your complaint again?
