Freelancer's good work vs. Client's false review

Hi,

It's been eight months since I'm here at Upwork. So far I've worked with a dozens of client and got dishonest review from two of them. My question is if I do the job that clients require, and then they still dishonest about the review what role Upwork plays here? It seems like a freelancer's JSS and badge only depends on a client's review. No justification about freelancer's work, skill, availabilty?

After the first bad experience, I'm trying to be very picky when taking a job but still this issue. The client was very good since the beginning and gradually became disrespectful. Is there anything Upwork can do about this?

It's great news that you have worked with so many honest clients.

re: "My question is if I do the job that clients require, and then they still dishonest about the review what role Upwork plays here?"

Upwork essentially makes money by setting up software that handles things, and which lets clients and freelancers handle things, without needing to pay Upwork employees to get directly involved.

Upwork's business model could not sustain paying its employees to get involve in the contracts between millions of users.

You asked what Upwork's role is when there is a "dishonest" review?

Upwork doesn't want to pay people to get involved in that.

Looked at from a certain perspective:

ALL reviews are, by definition, "dishonest."

One could say that there is:

- the client's perspective

- the freelancer's perspective

- and the truth

All reviews on Upwork are written by either "the client" or "the freelancer."

None of the reviews are written by "the truth."

Therefore, all reviews may be classified as "dishonest."

Fahim:
The problem is that there is no way for Upwork's programmers to create an automated algorithm that an check all written feedback and all star scores and make sure that they are far and honest.

That means we fall back on a largely non-interventionist system, with minimal possible human intervention, as outlined here:

No, UpWork will not intervene in clients' reviews. You are top rated so you are able to nullify these with your feedback removal perk. It's up to the freelancer to choose their clients carefully. Some client's can be quite ridiculous, but this is why UpWork has created the feedback removal perk in the first place.

Yeah I had to use to feedback removal thing last time. Seems like I need to do it again.

Your response was great. I understand now about the non-interventionlist system. Thanks to you.

Yes. Your JSS is based entirely (or almost entirely) on client reviews. Use Upwork with this fact in mind.

Anyone who rates me less than 10 is wrong and they should feel bad about it.
