Upwork is absolutely flooded with freelancers. Drowning in them, actually. There are way more than could ever get hired, and of the ones who are accepted, only a really small percentage ever wins a job.
Trying to join Upwork at this moment in time is pretty pointless for all but the most experienced professionals in some very rare niches.
