I've seen profiles that say they are from the US but they aren't. How does Upwork handle this or is it a non-issue? What kind of steps does Upwork take if the job is US only but someone from another country lists they are from the US and applies?

You seem to be a freelancer, not a client, so I’m curious how you can tell that a freelancer isn’t from the US, unless there’s something obviously wrong like incorrect time zone, but if you have proof that a freelancer is falsely claiming US location, then you could flag the profile. Since you’re a freelancer, you’re aware Upwork requires uploading government ID as proof of identity and location, but I suppose the ID could be faked. And I believe Upwork will eventually video verify every freelancer who’s completed one job, but who knows when if ever they’ll finish the process.
