Hi, I am a (non U.S) university student in Pakistan. I want to work as a writer/proofreader on upwork, and to get paid, I need to fill 'W8' information, but it is asking me to give 'legal name of business'. But I am not doing any business. What do I do? Please explain all the relevant tax information as well. I would be very grateful.

Hi Yousaf,

The W-8BEN form under Settings > Tax Info, have the purpose to confirm you're not a US taxpayer. You can use your own legal name as it appears in your passport or other official documents. 

You may need to consult a local tax advisor about proper ways to report your Upwork income to your country's tax authorities.
