Getting error trying to retrieve an excel file from an old project for a client

I was contacted by a client that need a copy of the excel files I created for a project.  They are on the project, but when I try and open them I get this message:

I don't have copies on my computer anymore and need to retrieve a copy that was sent via the messaging system for the project.

Upwork is not a file storage service.

You should not rely on Upwork as a place where you can go and retrieve project files.

You should understand that Upwork intentionally ALTERS files, in ways that may make them unusable, as part of its security protocols.
