HOW TO GET A CLIENT

I have been on Upwork for about 4 months now and I haven't had any luck finding a client. I am not sure why this is happening, but it's really getting me down. I can't get any clients at all, even though my skills are in high demand and I am qualified to do the job.

Any tips and advice would be appreciated..

Thanks in advance.

after the initial job posting, wait a few days and send a follow up. many forget or are bogged down in proposals. I have gotten many bites from follow ups.

I've been on Upwork for more than a year now and I have had a total of 5 jobs so far. I got my first job because one of my friends is also a freelancer and he referred my Upwork account to one of his clients and that's how I got my first job. After that contract ended, I didn't get any clients and got out of Upwork for a very long period of time. Then one day I entered Upwork again and thought about giving it another shot and still I didn't get any clients. I did something that worked for me but I am not sure if it would work for others as well, I changed my profile picture and added a better photo which I thought looked friendly and professional at the same time. After changing my profile photo, I submitted a few proposals and got a lot of responses immediately. So maybe my profile picture was the problem all along, but you might not have the same problem, so revise your profile a few times and fix the parts where you might be lacking.

I would say you should check other top-rated freelancers who are in the same niche as you. Check their profile, see how they built it, replicate what they did and do the same to your profile.

Next, improve how you write your proposal, this may also help.

Hey Allan, how are you? I recommend to you prepare an amazing portfolio, and only send proposals to jobs posted 5-10 minutes ago only, here you have more chances to get a job.
