The real problem lies in the fact that the talent specialists are not specialized. In the translation field anyway, they cannot tell the difference between language pairs. They assume editing and proofreading mean writing and that if you are English speaking, but live in a country with a different lingua franca, that you are force majeure a native of that country.

I wish freelancers had some sort of power over the platform. I'm thinking about starting a petition against their way of using "Talent Specialists" (did someone already do that or is that a silly idea to begin with) -- I mean if they really wanted to highlight some freelancers, they could have had simply put some sort of badge or symbol next to the applicant's name, that's fairer instead of putting the applications on archive.

There's also the fact that in a few major parts of the world, the most actively celebrated holiday season of the year is just now ending. I found from about three weeks before Christmas onward, even when clients had found the time to post jobs, they were very slow in getting back to me about them. In two cases I was offered the project with apologies that it had been busy (I didn't prompt any of that; if I submit a proposal and don't hear back, I assume it's a no-go). So that's where I'm coming from in that possibility.

I am not discounting the whole Talent Specialist/archived proposals debacle, I just think this could be an additional factor.

I'm waiting to see how this all shakes out during the next month or so.

Yes!! Like, by about 75%. I was curious if anyone else was experiencing this. I just read the other thread, and now I know why.

Crazy stuff. Very frustrating.
