Help with JSS Score After Client Refund and Feedback Removal

Hi everyone,

I’m reaching out to seek advice and insights from the community regarding an issue I’m experiencing with my Job Success Score (JSS) on Upwork.

Here’s the situation:

I recently had a project with a client that didn't go as planned. To resolve the issue amicably, I decided to refund the full amount to the client. As a result, the client gave me a 5-star rating and positive feedback before closing the project.

However, after the refund, the feedback was removed, which I assumed would restore my JSS to 100%. To my surprise, my JSS is still stuck at 89%, and it hasn't improved despite the positive resolution with the client.

My Questions:

  1. Impact of Feedback Removal: Does the removal of feedback due to a refund affect the JSS, and if so, how?

  2. JSS Calculation: How does Upwork calculate the JSS after a full refund, and why wouldn’t a resolved situation with positive feedback restore my JSS?

  3. Resolution Steps: Has anyone else encountered a similar issue, and what steps did you take to resolve it? Should I reach out to Upwork support, or are there specific strategies to help improve my JSS after such situations?

  4. Feedback on Refunds: How do refunds and closed contracts without feedback typically impact your JSS, and are there best practices for handling these situations to minimize negative effects?
