I'm not a professional editor or proofreader but one thing that I will suggest is to capitalize 'university of melbourne'.

Oh thanks for the reply. I have capitalized it. ๐Ÿ˜ƒ

Min, you are NOT READY to work on Upwork.

Your profile has far too many problems for me to begin to list them all. The biggest problem is that your profile is all about you.

As a client, I don't want to read your life story. I want to read about what you will do for me. Your profile does not do that.

You need to remove all mention of programming, English grammar and English proofreading from your profile, as these are skills you do not possess.

Remove the part about being flexible regarding work hours and payment method. Totally inappropriate.

You need to carefully study other contractor profiles and you need to read Upwork help documents and and you need to read a lot in the community forum before you are ready to work on your profile and begin work on Upwork.

I can't remember but doesn't Upwork go through new profiles and suggest ways to improve them?

Awesome. I mean they've made such a good job of improving everything else.

Thanks for the reply. I will continue to research more and resubmit my profile. Really thankful for pointing out my errors. ๐Ÿ˜ƒ

re: "I can't remember but doesn't Upwork go through new profiles and suggest ways to improve them?"

It would be incredibly resource-draining to do that.

For the most part new profiles are simply viewed by a $3.00/hour remote worker who clicks a button which automatically either approves a profile, no matter how bad it is, if it doesn't seem TOO bad to pass, OR it sends a generic notice to the new contractor telling them that they need to improve their profile.

So the short answer to your question is "no."

Anyway, even if Upwork provided feedback for new contractors about their new profiles, do you really think anybody at Upwork would tell people the kinds of things we can tell them here in the community forum?

I find that the more I eviscerate a new contractor's profile, the more likely they are to thank me for the feedback.

Before I let someone from Upwork advise me on my own profile, I would want to see their profile first..

ya, i get it Preston... and i will accept what you say about the push button customer service in the case of profile approving/disapproving.. ๐Ÿ˜‰

and ya, I would never accuse you of being subtle with your opinions.. ๐Ÿ™‚

thank goodness for another long time Upwork member for not being subtle because I might not have known about how my profile looked. my thanks to that person still go on to this day. ๐Ÿ™‚
