It's been an awesome month, and here 5 things I did to make it happen.
Have a good photo as your avatar
Make sure you can see your face clearly, first impressions count. It all starts with an avatar. Before we all become 5 star rated freelancers, we gotta look the part. A quick search depending on your freelance profession on UpWork, will give you a sense of what your avatar should look like. As a dev a get away with having a hoodie on there, but not everyone might… Be smart… dress the part.
Provide value in your bio
Make sure to provide as much detail of the things you can provide a potential client on your bio. Remember that not everyone will expand it, so make sure that the most important things you can provide are listed on the first few lines of the bio.
Send proposals everyday
It takes a lot of work, but if you are serious about free lancing, as the Kim K Tik sound would say, “you gotta f**king work”. I try to take one hour when I wake up, and one hour before I go to sleep to send proposals to every job I see that is a good fit for my skills. Sometimes it sucks, but you gotta do, what you gotta do.
Boost your proposals with connects as much as you can
There’s a special advantage to boosting your proposals that allows you to be at the very top of the list of applicant’s when a potential client views the job on UpWork. While the advantage isn’t clear, sometimes recruiters don’t have a lot of time to be looking at every single application, so securing that top position, sometimes is a must.
Spend time on your portfolio
Your portfolio is where you get to talk about all the awesome stuff you’ve done in your time. Make individual projects for each thing you’ve developed or created in your career and add it here. Let all potential clients know how good your work is, and let it speak for itself.
While I'm just getting started I feel I've learned a lot on my journey on this platform, and I want to share what's working for me with everyone. Would love to know what's working for everyone else, and how I can reach my next goal, of 1k hours on here.
Hope everyone has an awesome week.
