How UpWork could solve a lot of problems

My suggestions to UpWork:

1)  make the minimum bid amount $10.00/hour

2)  make the minimum fixed price amount $50.00

3)  charge clients a $20.00 fee if they place a job but do not hire anyone within 1 month

4)  only give top rated status if the average job payment is $300.00 or more

5)  stop encuraging US companies to look for freelancers in the USA only

6)  allow a maximum of 20 bids per job

7)  only allow freelancers with 90% rating or better to bid on $$$ jobs

9)  no charges for connects to freelancers who are top-rated

this should be relatively easy to set up and lift the quality of UpWork for both, clients and freelancers

Why do you want to prevent freelancers in low-paying fields from using Upwork?

3)  charge clients a $20.00 fee if they place a job but do not hire anyone within 1 month

Why do you want to discourage clients trying out different platforms from using Upwork?

4)  only give top rated status if the average job payment is $300.00 or more

Top rated status already has a minimum income requirement

5)  stop encuraging US companies to look for freelancers in the USA only

6)  allow a maximum of 20 bids per job

Why do you want to ensure that clients only get bids from freelancers who have no work and can sit by the computer waiting for jobs to be posted, versus the highly qualified freelancers who are busy?

7)  only allow freelancers with 90% rating or better to bid on $$$ jobs

Seems meaningless, since anyone can click the $$$ box, no matter what rate they're willing to pay.

9)  no charges for connects to freelancers who are top-rated

There's no way to quickly filter for top-rated, but nearly half of all active Upwork freelancers have JSS of 90% or greater. Quite a lot of the low-end freelancers flooding the market with a large number of proposals are top rated.

...just another one who wants to change the way a global platform operates to suit himself, to the detriment of others.....
