How can I see client information when he invites me to an invite-only project?

Maybe I should have posted this in the newbie section, but I was recently invited to a job which was invite-only, and I couldn't find a single way to view the client's Upwork page. I took a gamble and accepted the project, and the client is great, but after several attempts, I still can't find a way to access his Upwork page.

Can anyone help?

Hi Alan, and Pandora,

I wanted to share that we have recently rolled-out including client info in direct offers. You may find more information here.

Alan, I wanted to check if this was a direct offer, or an invite to submit a proposal for a job?

Clients do not have Profile pages. However, your job offer (and now Contract) should be "attached" to a job, though it might be slim on details. If you go to All Contracts > and then click the link for your current job with this client, you will be taken to a page with 3 tabs. Choose the Terms & Settings Page.

Then look to the bottom right of that page, and find this link: View original job posting.

Once your looking the job posting, you should be able to scroll down and see the clients job history, average pay, feedback, etc.

Pandora, thanks for the reply - the problem is when I click on the contract, there is no link to the "View original posting" that there is for all the other contracts I have....

The client only sent this offer directly to me, so there was no public job post ever made...

It's not a huge issue, just seems strange that I can't see his previous reviews...

Hello Alan,

Unfortunately, you can't view some of your client's information (such as their past contracts and feedback, job posts, billing method status) through job offer. However, I can confirm that the client's payment method is already verified. You can view some of his information by going to your contract, click terms and settings and then click View Offer. Once you clicked the View Offer link. You'll be able to see your client's average stars/reviews, location, number of jobs posted, total spent, average hourly rate paid and the date your client joined Upwork. Thanks!

Oh, it's one of THOSE jobs. Sorry then, I led you down a merry path of FAIL. Seriously. On the other hand, I assure you that what I said does apply to ah..SOME cases (including a couple of mine a long time ago).

And what Ryan said is newish...in that they know this happens often enough, and recently have taken steps to make sure that we can still access some info about a client.

P.S. We have all been very outspoken (for years) about clients needing some sort of profile, but at this point, it's pretty clear it's never going to happen. Clients have asked for it, we have asked for it, etc. It would really change the "game" here, and truthfully, possibly not for the best. Needless to say, it's great that Upwork has tried to fix it so these weird sort of jobs still allow us to see some necessary info about clients.

Hi Avery,

It was a direct offer.

One should be able to see something about a client when it is a direct offer. There is no time generally, to ask CS to check. Sometimes direct offers seem odd, or at worst, scammy. It's odd that Upwork tells us that something is in the pipeline, but the something, somehow, never really materializes.
