How can I stop receiving invitations when my profile is marked as unavailable right now.

Hey there,
My schedule is booked through the end of the year and I will be away for the holidays. However, I have marked my profile as unavailable and I still keep getting invitations, most of which do not even apply to my skills. If I do not respond to them I am told that this impacts my rating. Is there a way to block invitations when I am posted as unavailable???

No, but you can set your profile to private so it's not coming up in search results.

It's an interesting algorithm that gets some people an invitation. And others get one invitation a year, and it's off-topic.

You can set your profile to private if it's coming up in searches, and if you are getting invites from that automated Upwork "Talent Specialist", you can 'opt out' of the program, which I had to do a few months ago due to a constant avalanche of irrelevant invitations.

Sorry, I am new to the board and just needed a question answered. If it is off-topic, I was unaware, thanks.

Melody - I think you misunderstood Alexander.  Your question/comment was NOT off topic.  I think what Alexander was trying to say is that some freelancers receive invitations that are 'off -topic' (i.e., invitations not related to their profile or skills. A graphic artist getting invitations for jobs doing French Translation, etc)    In the past year, the 'methodology' behind who receives invitations and who does not, and the quality and quantity of invitations they receive, can only be described as 'random'.   Your question was definitely not 'off -topic' at all.

Right! And we need more people complaining they get too many invites, as a counterbalance!

I actually get a good number of invitations, unfortunately, many of them are 'off topic' like this one I just received moments ago:

What in the WORLD?   😂 I do IT for a living.  I don't know anything about any "Navy" or any "boats"
