How can I submit a bid when I don't know how much work involved?

I'm new to this. In this job, it doesn't indicate how much material is to be proofread. How can I submit an accurate bid, then? Is there no way to contact the client to ask how much much work is involved?

There is. You can ask all your questions in the proposal when you apply for a job. If the client wants to, he can contact you and start a conversation, which may or may not lead to an offer.

There is absolutely no need to provide a final bid in the proposal, as it often is impossible due to what you described above.

But before you do that, you might want to spend a little more time on your profile - for a proofreader you're quite stingy with words 😉

Thank you, Martina, I appreciate that info. I'm really just getting my bearings here, and an expanded profile is on my list!

Not a problem!

While you familiarize yourself with the platform, stay clear of scammers. Anybody offering to buy you office furniture is one of those.

Don't. Let freelancers with connects to spare handle the clients who don't give enough detail.

You can mention your rate in the proposal and define a milestone for 1000 words. The client will take it from there if the rest of your proposal works out.
