How can a completed project be changed to completed on my dashboard?

Hello, I'm a freelancer and I am new.

I worked with a client, job has been completed, I have been paid but on my dashboard the job is still showing "in progress". I'd like to know if this can be changed from my end because I don't think the client has checked his Upwork profile since that job was completed.

If I can't change it, will it discourage other clients from working with me because it shows I have an uncompleted project?

Hi Abigail,

I'd like to confirm that Viacheslav is right. You and the client both have the ability to end the contract. To end a contract, please follow these steps:

  1. Go to Jobs  All Contracts to find the contract
  2. Choose the (...) options button and select End contract, or select the End contract button on your dashboard
  3. Click End Contract to confirm

Be sure to let your client know before ending the contract.

EDIT: You or the client have to close the contract.

Thank you.

Abigail, sometimes clients do forget to close the job once they've gotten their work. I like to nudge them when I deliver, assuring them that I'm available to answer questions or provide clarifications, but if they are satisfied upon looking over my work, to please close the job and leave favorable feedback. That usually helps prevent jobs from being left open. If not, I'll wait a couple of weeks and politely repeat my request. I close jobs on my own as a last resort.
