I take it from a job post>

  • United States
    New York 11:09 am
  • 52 jobs posted
60% higher rate, 5 open jobs
  • $100k+ total spent
    37 hires, 20 active
  • 24.94 /hr avg hourly rate paid
    7,132 hours

Yes. Plus the hiring history, the feedback the client received and gave, the quality of the job posting.

One way is to look at the client's hire rate over on the right hand side of the page where the job posting appears. If it's 50 percent, then it means the client only hires someone for half of the jobs they post.

Even if you choose your clients carefully, it's hard to get work. One job out of every 50 proposals would be a reasonable expectation for someone who is fairly new to the site.

Also, you need to write your proposals carefully and make sure they're in correct English (assuming that's the language the job was posted in).

The higher the hiring rate, the better. Don't apply to jobs below 80%.
