How do I close/delete my account?

Hello. I made a profile on Upwork. When trying to cancel, I get

**Edited for Community Guidelines**
I want to be able to fix it myself without being forced towards a phone number.

Hi Vikram,

 

If you'd like to close your account, first make sure you withdraw any active proposals on your Proposals page

complete and close any active contracts and don't have any available or pending balance. Then you can close your account by visiting this page. For more information and detailed steps, please visit this help article.


As a gentle reminder, please know that you will not be allowed to create a new account. If you need to use your Upwork account again in the future, you can reach out to us through our different support channels, and we will assist you with reinstating your account.

The email **Edited for Community Guidelines** is my work account, and I already have my personal account. So I just want to change the already available personal account to a work account. The issue is that I mistakenly created another account with **Edited for Community Guidelines** because I didn't know that I could actually even change the email address of my account. As soon as I realized this fact, I immediately closed the account with **Edited for Community Guidelines**. What should I do? I want to unlink my email **Edited for Community Guidelines** and link it to my personal account.

You can view and respond to the support ticket directly from the email notification sent to the registered email address of your closed account.

Hi , 

Can I get refunded for my purchased connects? i just purchased the connects accidently and won't want to use the service anymore and would like to close my account.

Dear Upwork,

 

Can you help me please to delete my account. This is because I have received a lot of spam emails from an invitation to interview. I already declined the invitation, but still it keeps on sending me emails evry 15 to 20 minutes. I have received in total more than 30 emails from the very same person. This is traumatic.

I also tried to delete my upwork profile, but I dont know why the option is automatically changed to "you cannot close your account"

Hello,

I created an upwork account few years back which i did not use. It is a personal account but didn't really use it. Recently, i started making plans to go fully into freelancing with upwork using a business account. I created a new account with a different email and everything went well. I was going through community post and also checking upworks policy and saw that users are not permitted to have duplicate account. I also saw that the first account is the one recognized by upwork. Thankfully i have not yet made payment for subscription.

I want to close the new account and go back and build the old account as i saw that upwork accounts can support multiple profiles. 

I am reaching out here to know if there anything that i need to be concerned with before proceeding. I don't want to close the new account and start with building the old account just to see the account having issues.

Please kindly advice on how to proceed.

While trying to close my upwork account i am getting

Should be you applied for some jobs already? Check applications and cancel all. It may help.

I’m sorry to hear that you’re considering deleting your account. It seems that you might not be able to do so just yet because there are some proposals that haven’t been withdrawn. As Mykola mentioned, you will need to close those first before moving forward. You can easily check your proposal page here.
