How do I upload an audio file to my portfolio?

Hello Upwork,

Is there any way to upload an audio file to the Portfolio section of my profile?

I am a voice talent.  I have several audio files of my work, and I'd like to put them into the "Portfolio" section of my profile.  In the Portfolio there is a place to upload a jpg, and a place to add a video link, but that's it.  There's no place to add an audio file.  That I can see, anyway.  It's just a standard .wav file (or can be .mp3).

Does anyone know how to do this?

Thanks!

Sorry but although I dont know if you can upload an audio, perhaps a good workaround might be to turn your audio file into a video. Perhaps using an image as a placeholder since there would not be a video might be a good idea.  Just throwing spaghetti at the wall here so-to-speak. lol

Hi Gordon,

If you can convert your audio files into .swf formats, you should be able to add these as your portfolio on your Upwork profile. You may read more about adding portfolio items in your profile in this help article.

I have been working on my Upwork profile and looking at other voice talent profiles for ideas and inspiration and I found something interesting. Another voice talent has been able to include .MP3 files as part of their portfolio as what looks like some type of attachment. I have attached a screen shot of how that appears on their portfolio page. The attached screen shot is only a portion of the page but I think you can see that the playable/downloadable attachment appears just below the image area and just above the “Audio Editing Software” section. How can I include an .MP3 file as part of a portfolio section? Thank you

Hi Jeff,

You can add a video to your profile by following the steps shared on this help article. At this time, you can only add a video and not an audio file. Could you please share with me the profile link of the freelancer that you're referring to so I can check? You can send it to me via PM by clicking on my name. Thank you.

Thank you for the prompt reply. Did you view the attachment I included that shows what I was describing? I purposely did not include specifics about the freelancer as I do not want to interupt what they have accomplished and apparently I am not allowed to contact another freelancer without creating a client section of my account and "hiring" them. Given that I have shown an example of how this is being done, can you say how "attaching" an .MP3 file to a portfolio project can be accomplished? Thanks

Hi Jeff,

You can use the 'Classic' portfolio template if you are adding files besides images or videos to your portfolio item. You can check this help article for more information on the supported file types and this screenshot for reference. Let us know if you need further assistance.

Thank you.

I replied to the email noticication of this issue several days ago but I felt it useful to include the reply below as part of the community thread:

"Finally, and thank you! I actually thought I had tried the Classic portfolio style previously, and neither the list of supported or unsupported files notes .MP3, but I am now able to add the audio file format. An important feature for voice over freelancers and audio specialists in general. Thank you again!"

This is a stupid site if you can't upload an audio file, when you have voice actor as a catagory.

Hi Angela,

As Avery shared on an earlier post, If you can convert your audio files into .swf formats, you should be able to add these as your portfolio on your Upwork profile. You can check this help article for more information on how to add portfolio items and other tips to enhance your profile.

Thank you.

I'll turn your audio files into videos so you can post them on your portfolio! 🙂

Absolutely agreed  :

What's the point of building a Voice profile if you cannot upload clips?

Hi Gordon I just discovered this issue as well Upwork seems to discriminate againt Voiceover artists. It allows you to add the sytle of voices and everything other descriptor except your actual demo. So now i have to do the extra steps to create a viceo file with my audio embedded. I would rather pay an agent than go this route.

Utterly ridiculous.  I just spent a wasted 30 mins. trying to navigate this obvious myself, with frowning results.  Limited to YouTube or Vimeo, outside of coverting audio files to "video"  ... ???
