If you'd like to close your account, first make sure you withdraw any active proposals on your Proposals page
complete and close any active contracts and don't have any available or pending balance.Then you can close your account by visiting this page. For more information and detailed steps, please visit this help article.

Dear Upwork moderators, I want to come clean and be transparent, and also to be clear that I am not trying to do anything Illicit. I would greatly appreciate your help in a concern I have regarding my Upwork account. A few months ago I logged into my Upwork account that I did not use for years due to issues with not being able to remember my password and I had changed my phone and from there tried to recover that account. So, I opened a new account , and when I was asked to verify my identity and I did, my account was closed. I went to the support page to ask why and they said because of account inactivity and because I had another account. I was not given the opportunity to explain my case which was upsetting and I did not know that I could not have more than one account, because please remember I had not used my old one in a years, and I did not read terms of service.
A month ago, I made a new one and everything good so far, but I am asked to prove my identity again on the new one, which is fair. My concern is that they will close it because I already had an account. Is this a must now? Any advice please? Thank you!
I would like to please have those 2 accounts permanently closed please, if they are not already .I do not use them and highly doubt I have access to them due to the situation mentioned above, and I do not desire to have access to them. I would like to have this one account only and I am more than willing to send my ID verification, but before I do, I would like to have my case looked over so that I don't keep having this same issue. I want to make sure I abide by Upwork rules.
I would like to speak to a live agent please, regarding my case, I am willing to do a video call or whatever is needed please to get this fixed. Is there anyway that my case can be escalated with a supervisor?

I have an account created when I was invited as a co-worker on a project. i want to close my current account and open another one with the same email address. Looks like I can’t close the account, as I am not the admin, but have changed my email address in the account, to try and use the old email on a new account and it doesn’t let me. What can I do? This might be the dumbest thing I've ever had to go through.
Upwork won't let me close my account because it says I have an active proposal.. but that proposal was DELETED BY UPWORK AND CANNOT BE RETRIEVED. Yet it's still on my profile as an active proposal, so I can't close my account. I have never a professional platform be so incompetent and unhelpful. What a waste of time.
