How to propose a fixed price instead of hourly rates to a prospective client?

I recently saw an RFQ for a hourly rate project which did not fit in the hourly rate model.

  1. Significant material cost,
  2. Shipping cost.
  3. Most work away from laptop,
  4. Can complete S/W part faster leveraging pre-written inhouse,

I would prefer bidding on it as a fixed rate activity with set milestones.

Is it possible to give a turnkey "fixed rate" proposal to a client seeking hourly rate worker? If yes, what are the guidelines?

Hi Vijayvithal,

At the moment we don't have the option you're referring to. However, you can mention this in your proposal and communicate with your client about the contract that would be a better fit for both sides. If they also agree that a fixed price contract is a better fit, the client has an option when he's sending an offer to switch from hourly to fixed and vice versa. Thank you.
