I cancelled a contract. Can I use the money in escrow for a contract with a different freelancer?

I hired a freelancer to write 5 articles. She estimated 5 business days, so I set a period of 2 weeks as a buffer. After 2 weeks she submitted 1 article. After 4 weeks and 4 days with no more articles, I cancelled the contract. Can I now hire another freelancer for the same job and use the money already in escrow, or will that money be automatically refunded?

If you are ending a fixed-price contract and there are remaining funds in escrow that are no longer required for the project, you can request an escrow refund. To request an escrow refund, please follow the steps below:

1. Go to My Jobs to locate the contract
2. Click the (...) options menu and select End contract
3. Choose Pay nothing and request a refund or Pay another amount when ending the contract
