Are clients supposed to end the contract? And do they know this?
Because I get tired of waiting for the client to end the contract. They pay promptly enough. That's good.
But I need closure. I don't need an open contract listed in my profile when the work was finished a week before. It's an inaccuracy.

Either of you can end the contract. Many freelancers prefer to ask the client to do it because when the client closes the contract, he/she is forced to leave feedback. If you close the contract yourself, chance are you will never get a rating from that client.

They know it unless it's their first contract. Just ask them to end it when the work is delivered, and if they disappear on you, end it after a while yourself, but not many at the same time.

Hi Matthew,
Either you can close the contract or your client can close it. But sometime new client's don't know how/why to close ta contract because it is not a priority for them. But for you it is an opportunity to get good feedback.
I would recommend you to ask the client to close the contract once the job completed. It's the best way to close a contract because I have seen many freelancer's has more than 20 active jobs but they are not wokring for month's or year's on them.
I hope this answer will help you.
