I have a problem with a client for the first time I face such an issue
The problem is after finishing the project m the client asked for the project files - which was not mentioned before the job-
so as attached I asked for additional fees if wanted the open files.
and after he received the project edited, the client canceled the contract.
what should I do now?

Have you by chance read Upwork's default contract terms?

Ahmed, if this was a fixed-price contract, then those project files don't belong to the client unless they were specified in the original written agreement. But the client was clearly surprised by the fact that you didn't provide those files to him. That means you made a mistake in communicating what the expectations should be. As a new freelancer, you should have been happy for the opportunity to earn positive feedback simply by providing files that were already created.
In the future, you can improve how effectively you communicate to clients the fact that you will not be sending them project files unless they pay extra.
If this was an hourly contract, then the files don't belong to you. The files belong to the paying client.

This thread goes out to all the people who wonder how they can compete with cheap freelancers.
