I have some worries about account suspension because of failed proposals.

Hi everyone, 

Usually it's hard to get a winning proposal. For example I got only one work last week after 5 failed proposals. I sometimes land a job after 6-7 failed proposals or more. By the way I don't use all of my 60 connects in a month because I don't want to be in danger. 

I've already contacted Upwork support team, but they haven't given me a clue. I basically asked them how I could find a balance without being in danger. So what is the ideal failed proposal number? I know there is no way to figure out this, but should I really worry?

Hi Burak , If  by failed proposals you mean , jobs in which you didnt get hired , those don't appear as failed on your profile. I can't even see any description of failed proposals on your profile. Why should you worry ?

Please don't contact them about stuff like that.

You already found out that it is a waste of your time.

Reading threads in the Community Forum or posting appropriate questions is going to be a far more effective way to ask quesions of this nature.

No, you should not worry.

You are not a pest or a robo-bidder. You are a conscientious, serious freelancer. You are not the type of freelancer that Upwork wants to protect clients from being exposed to.

Also, the main "danger" you may have seen referenced (with regards to applying to too many jobs without getting hired) is the "danger" of having one's profile set to private. That is NOT the same thing as getting suspended. And this is really NOT a big deal because:

a) you can always ask to have your profile set back to public

and

b) it really doesn't affect your chances of getting hired.

I USUALLY set my profile to unavailable by choice - thus making it just as un-findable in searches as private profiles. If you're not getting jobs through private invites, then having your profile set to private has no negative effect on you at all. You can still work and send job proposals just as you normally do.

In summary: This is not something for you to worry about. In fact, you should feel free to use up all your connects if you want to, as long as all of your job bidding is on projects that you know you could do a great job on.

Yes, I meant the jobs that I don't get hired by saying failed proposals. Let me also enclose a screenshot of marketing effectiveness of mine (see my stats.png)

I worry because I've heard those horror stories mostly in Reddit. People say their acccount suspended due to too many proposals without landing a job.

Stop worrying about this.

Your stats are fine.

You are not the same kind of freelancer as those people who posted on Reddit.

YOUR account is not going to be suspended due to not getting hired when you send proposals.

And even if this IS a possibility (which I'm saying it ISN'T)... what are you going to do? Are you going to STOP sending job proposals?

What you SHOULD be doing is doing the best job you possibly can on each job you are hired for, and writing thoughtful job proposals for carefully-selected job postings. You should be doing this so that you can help clients and earn money. Presumably that is why you are here.

So do those right things for the right reasons. You'll be fine.
