I understand how this can be a very frustrating experience for you and I apologise if it seemed that I was insinuating that this is entirely your fault. Please know that I did not intend to mean it as such, and I apologise if you were offended by my response.
I understand that this has been an issue for most freelancers here on Upwork, and in order for me to share the experience with the team, I am trying to understand what may have transpired when users "click outside the proposal window," which results to deleting the draft proposal on the proposal page. This will allow me to give a detailed explanation to the team so that the can look into this, and possibly consider the "Save draft" option for future releases.
