How established is the client on Upwork? How long have they been hiring, how much money have they spent, how many freelancers have they hired, what is their Feedback history like?

In general, I wouldn't send my ID to anyone, at least not with many details blacked out so it can't be abused and a watermark on it, but I have provided my ID as part of an Enterprise contract which was worth well in excess of $100k.

Thank you so much for your help.

Like Petra said, unless the project is of high value and the client is very well established I would not send Id to anyone.

Although I have signed many NDAs with clients for project values ranging between $500 - $2000, no one ever asked me for an ID!
