INCREDIBLY

I'm new to UpWork, getting a job on this platform is something amazing, it seems like a job here is only for certain people.

I send cover letters, my clients don't even open them, I send them to ads that are directly related to my profession (graphic designer) nobody even looks at it, even one man asked for his two pictures to be combined on one side in FIGMA, I sent proposals to at the bottom, I left him the photo he wanted and as he wanted and as he stated in the instructions, he asked for a picture of his grandmother and his grandmother to be taken next to each other so that he could give it to his father, I did that and sent it to him, he didn't I didn't even look, probably because I'm at the beginning of my UpWork career.

Another thing, too many connections are spent on work, and I buy connections, but it could be limited, for example, that the first 10 people who apply for a job can apply for it, so that the client can choose, I know this is not suitable to the management of upWork because the point is just to make money.

But the question for them "Imagine how many more people would buy connections and how many more people would sign up as a freelancer if they could get jobs more easily?"

I think you would make more money there, right?

I would like someone to give me a concrete answer to this, I am not interested in diplomatic answers because it is a lie! :)

With respect,

The client might have looked. They might not have looked. There is no way to know unless you receive an interview or a notice that your proposal was declined. Either way, you sent them work for free. Why would they pay anybody when they get the work for free?

I strongly advise all freelancers to NOT wonder about whether or not a client looked at your proposal.

There is no way to know.

This information is NOT USEFUL.

You should submit a proposal and then FORGET about it.

If the client contacts you, then start paying attention. Until then, don't worry about it.

I very much disagree with this. If most clients are not opening your proposals, it is useful to consider whether you are wasting that valuable real estate in the first two lines of your proposal and could increase the likelihood that a client would click through. It is also useful to consider whether the bits of your profile that show with your proposal could be improved.

It's less useful (or perhaps not useful at all) to ask those questions about a specific proposal. But, in the aggregate, your open rates are part of the success metrics of your marketing campaign, and ignoring them decreases the likelihood that you'll be able to improve your success rate.

You should not send the finished product to the client before being hired, this shows the desperation of the freelancer and clients will use it to their benefit. Who knows he opened it and found what he needed without having to pay and move down with his life without hiring anyone...

Upwork intensified the competition in almost every specialty niche by opening the doors for anyone to join the platform in the past recent months...before that they limited freelancers' registration if there were too many already in a certain specialty! And the reason they quoted in those days was they are limiting freelancer registration so that the balance is maintained between available jobs and freelancers...it was a rare sight to see 50+ proposals for jobs but nowadays almost every job in every category for all budget ranges have 50+ proposals!

And the boosted proposals were introduced to add insult to injury!

So, you should know it is only going to become difficult to find a job here let alone make it easy...because new freelancers are able to join daily but the new clients or available jobs are not going to increase at that rate!

When I joined this platform it took me like 3 months to get my first job and we didn't have that boosting thing...  There were also certain exams for new freelancers. Now we have the boosting bid and ANYBODY can join the platform. so competition is getting hard for everybody. Not sure what would be the average time for a new freelancer to get a job... but I don't think it will be very fast...

No one starts at the top. It takes, time, skill, perseverance, and yes, money.

Is that your cover letter?

You need to start at the beginning. Go through all the links and learn about the platform and how to establish yourself. The Upwork Academy has numerous resources.

The fact is as a new person in a flooded platform, you will likely have a difficult time getting jobs. You need to write excellent proposals, not what you have posted. Your profile and portfolio have to be top-notch. Prepare to write a lot of proposals and spend money on lots of connects before you get a job. But, plenty of people have done it before.
