Hi all,
During work with clients, some job looks like we can or we can't.
I often do a sample or even full job before getting hired.
I had noted, Client has to first hire us and then only can make payment.
My idea is, can Upwprk team do something like make payment and leave feedback?
isn't good?
Please share thoughts.

1) Thank you for teaching clients how to get free work.
2) The idea is that you are supposed to get hired, then do the work, then you get paid and feedback is left.
3) No, isn't good at all...

Uh... first of all, thats against Upwork's TOS to do any work before you get hired as you aren't guaranteed to be paid. Why would you do that? I'm not sure what your point is here.
Why would Upwork pay you? It's the client who pays, not Upwork.. so I don't agree with this at all.
Also, I'm sure it might not be your intention but your post is misguiding newbie freelancers to think its OK to work on a project without being "offically" hired first. Big no no.

I agree with the rest of your post, but it isn't against the terms of service to provide free work, it is just stupid and unprofessional.
It is against the ToS for a client to ask for free work-

Has that been officially stated anywhere? I seem to recall a big discussion about this a while back. I had said that on occasion I had provided miniscule sample edits (like a paragraph out of an ebook) before being hired, and was pretty sure that among the dogpiling were comments to the effect that I wasn't even allowed to do that.

Charles, the fact that it isn't "officially stated" is the point. The TOS prohibit clients from asking for free work. There is no corresponding term relating to freelancers providing free work.

Valeria double checked and confirmed it.
