Hello guys, just wondering, why can't Upwork come up with a minimum budget limit for clients? Seeing someone offer a writing job of 2000 words for $5 breaks my heart. Feels like working in the medieval period.

Hi Patrick,
I understand how this is important to freelancers like you. At Upwork, the terms of any contract, including the rate, are for clients and freelancers to decide upon together. Any freelancer who is not satisfied with the rate offered can negotiate a higher rate or find a project they consider to be more suitable.
There is a minimum of $5 budget for fixed-price jobs for all jobs, and a $3 rate for hourly contracts. Currently, our team is not aware of any plans to establish different minimums for different categories and experience levels. As those projects may be of interest to other freelancers, please use filters while searching in order to exclude the ones that you’re not interested in.
