Re: Invitation to Interview by Talent Specialist - but client said proposal was sent to wrong person

Hi Upwork Community!

 

I received an Invitation to Interview by an Upwork Talent Specialist on Friday, so I immediately submitted my proposal.

 

However, the client indicated today that I had sent my proposal to the wrong person. Plus, I did put time and effort into my reply to the invite, so it's very discouraging, not to mention embarrassing.

 

If a moderator could look into this situation for me, I would appreciate it very much.

Hello Karen,

 

I just checked your account and I saw that you were invited by one of the members of a group and then that person who invited you left the room.  The other one responded to your proposal and it seems that he's unaware of the invitation made by the one who invited you.  Please communicate with him and tell him that someone (kindly state the name of the person) sent you an invitation to have some clarification on your issue. Thank you.

Thanks for your prompt response!

 

I could be wrong, but it appears that the Upwork Talent Specialist and the person who left the workroom may be one and the same individual. Would you be able to confirm that? If so, was there a way that I could have responded to the Talent Specialist directly, although the invitation advised me to respond to the client directly as per the following instructions? There did not appear to be that option.

 

"The client will ultimately decide who to hire, so please direct any messages about this job post to the client."

 

Thanks again for your clarification. This is my first time responding to this type of invite, and I'm determined to get it right the next time.

One of your support representatives contacted me a few minutes ago and has cleared up this issue to my satisfaction. I appreciate your team's super fast response time. 

 

It appears that the client had not approved the Upwork Talent Specialist to issue this job invitation, which is why there was confusion at the client's end when I responded to it.  I have withdrawn my proposal accordingly.
