Invites sent, unanswered invites, interviews

Hello everybody,

I am trying to understand what these stats mean.

eg the job stats read that there is say 1 interview, 9 invites sent and 4 unanswered invites.

So 5 freelancers have responded to the invite. Does this mean they are currently negotiating the offer? So basically it would be 6 interviews in total, right? Or is an invite a direct offer, which means that if the job still has not resulted in a hire these 5 answered invites means the freelancers have declined the offer?

Thanks!

Hello Petra,

thanks for the info. But if an invite is not an offer that you can click on a button to decline, how does Upwork know that the freelancer is not currently negotiating it and has already declined it, so it does not count it as an interview?

What?

When you get an invite, you can accept or decline the invite. If you accept it, it counts as interview. If you decline it, it counts as answered, if you don't do anything, it counts as an iunanswered invite.

An invite is not a job offer.

Responding to an invite can also mean declining it. Many of us decline the majority of the invites we get.

Interviews include all people the client is interviewing. That could be people who accepted the invite (NOT those who declined it) and people whose proposal the client responded to.

If it says "One interview" and 9 sent invites and 4 unanswered invites, at least 4 invited people declined the invite. One person is being interviewed, but that could be from a proposal or an invite.

An invite is not an offer, no.
