I wouldn't do that job for anything less than 60K.

$50,000? Talk about a low-ball client. It's gotta take at least $5,000,000, easy. I wonder what, if any, the Upwork maximum job budget is.

I've had to 'save' this job - I want to see what happens. Two people are being interviewed - I'd love to know what their bids are. ๐Ÿ™‚

Ha!

The job posting is probably a joke. But I don't believe it should be flagged or removed.

If a client actually has money he is willing to spend on designing an advanced Iron Man-like suit, and if contractors are willing to work on the project, then there is nothing wrong with that. Nothing against Upwork Terms of Service.

A client could pay a contractor for an initial consultation about the feasability for such a project. One milestone might be doing research about the history of the Iron Man suit, or the history of mechanized suits of armor.

If this client posts jobs and doesn't hire, or violates Upwork rules, then the job posting should be removed or the client banned. But these punitive actions should not be taken purely because the job posting describes a project which some people regard as implausible, or because the posted budget for the initial phase of the project does not meet what some people think the total budget would end up being.

Seriously, Preston, this is a textbook case that demonstrates the desirability of requiring clients to verify a payment method before being allowed to post a job. Upwork could lose a small fortune if the work were to take place outside Upwork.

There was another job from this same client something with "Telekinez" (don't even know how to spell it).

With this Iron Man I think there were some intervies.

Since have lots of unused connects even thought to apply out of curiosity - just to speak with guy by chance to see how he sees Upwork made Iron Man. Smiley Very Happy

Its actually a kid with nothing to do. Probably some prank with his friends.

I have some connects to blow.

Was thinking the same thing.

If this client had verified payment, I would work for him, using an hourly contract at my full hourly rate, and no manual time. Upwork guarantees payment.

If I applied and got interviewed but never hired, the worst case scenario is it improves my marketing score on the My Stats page.

I have never come clues to using up a monthly allotment of Connects, so "wasting" them is not really a concern for me.

I doubt he actually hires anybody, though.

Hopefully I will get an interview.

Make sure you make the suit indestructible. It needs to take heavy fire power.

I will try and get my hands on some Adamantium or Unobtanium.

Maybe the client is thinking Tony Stark might be here in upwork. Too bad he's a billionaire and will not fall for a $50,000 budget.

Other open jobs by this client - the first one has the name of the company.

LOL Setu I saw your name! haha What are the odds this is from an irate freelancer, though?

Hmm. I checked out the website. The client is a college admissions coach. I think is a topic for a college admissions essay for an engineering program. Many of the tech companies are using off the wall interview questions to assess whether applicants can offer viable innovative solutions " on the spot." The high budget is most likely a strategy to gain the attention of actual professionals. Since most of the freelancers listed as applicants on the job post have been invited by the client, the invite most likely explains this.

Then again, the posts might just be some creative trolling.

Hi All,

Just like Preston, I had a difficult time finding a policy violation in this job posting. I have forwarded it to our Marketplace Quality team for further investigation though.

I apologize in advance that us removing this posting will steal an opportunity from any of you who applied to build an Iron Man suit for this client. Robot wink

OMG did you just tell a joke?! ๐Ÿ˜ง

This definitely debunks the theory that mods are A.I.

๐Ÿ™‚ Valeria - but Don't delete it! I have just realized that it is probably Donald Trump - he needs some security!

@Valeria,

Pleeeeeease, don't remove this job,  Smiley Very Happy

We have saying back in my country - one more, one less judge and prosecutor do not care....

Natasha wrote earlier, 'Other open jobs by this client - the first one has the name of the company.'.

I wonder what he considers a 'fully functional' website -- would it include an AI agent you can talk to in plain language, like a Jarvis? Cat Wink

If any of you checked out the applicants for his Telekinesis project, the first applicant has quite a profile. I wonder if $588.88 an hour is a record? What's with all the 8's? Is he a neo-nazi? (H is the eighth letter of the alphabet, so 88 is Heil Hitler). Is 2 different website links in the profile an Upwork record? And to top it all off, he's a 22X IRONMAN triathlete! What are the odds?
