Is a cell phone mandatory for sign up?

Is a cell phone mandatory in order to sign up as a freelancer?  I currently have a home phone and internet access and I might not obtain a cell phone in the near future.

I'm a freelancer. I have never had a cell phone, and do not plan to get one.

It has never been an issue.

Maybe there are new onboarding protocols that involve some kind of verification through texting or something... But you should be able to use a free Google Voice phone number to receive text messages for that purpose. You can do that from your desktop computer. Without a cell phone.

Same here. And I feel really old when I have to mention this to people, like whenever someone wants me to text them or install an app.

I only ever need my email and home phone. Can't deny that smartphones are helpful now and then, especially on the go, but you can definitely live without one.
