That being said, recently I have received an interview from an individual.
He asked to communicate through whatsapp and email instead of UW-Message.
It's okay for me as far as I concerned, it's just when this guy asked me to receive payment for the job through Paypal instead of UW-payment system.
So my question is:
1. Is it a violation of Upwork?
Well, a support person seemed to ignore that when I asked him as an additional question in another support ticket, so I figured it might not be that big of a deal or maybe it's just not approriate to ask something that is not their responsibility (understandable), so I brought it up here
2. If yes then- when that happens who will be on the "wrong" side?
.The client who innitiated it, or freelancer who received it? Or maybe both?
. What should freelancers do when they receive "offers" like that?
Thank you,

1. Yes. If you agree to be paid via PayPal you will almost certainly lose your Upwork account.
2. If freelancers receive offers like that they should obviously turn them down. There is also a provision in the terms of services which say that you will always report the person making or agreeing such an offer.

Hi Linh,
Please note that offering or accepting payments off Upwork is a violation of Upwork TOS. Upwork requires all payments to go through our platform and offers Upwork Payment Protection for both hourly and fixed-price contracts. You can refer to Section 7 of the User Agreement for detailed information.
Could you please send me a private message with more information on your report so that I can check and send a report to our team for investigation?
Thank you.
