Is it OK to change my name>

Hello everyone.

I wanted to add payment method and then I realized It must be on my name and billing address. Because I don't have one, I have to change my name completely to match the bank.( I don't want to do it right now ).

Is it ok by upwork for me to do that?

I'm already working here and got some good feedback.I hope it can be resolved.

 You can NOT change your profile name to the name of another person. You can NOT use someone else's bank account.

Your profile must be in your own, legal name as it appears on your ID documents, and must be connected to your own withdrawal method.

Hi Radin,

You must use your real, verifiable name according to Upwork's Terms of Service. To set up payment to your bank account, your name in Upwork must match your name on your bank account.

Because I don't have an indian bank right now I thought I can use another person. But If it going to be trouble I use paypal then witch is based on my name.

But what I see in "Help center: is You can change your full identity If you provide Verification. Is it right?

 That is for people who gave a fake name in the first place. The idea is to allow them to put in their real name.

Do NOT try to change your profile details to those of the bank account owner. Especially now you have told Upwork that this is what you are planning on doing.

You'd end up permanently suspended before you can say "terms of service violation!"

Hello,

I am also facing the same problem setting up my payment method. My payment method has been deactivated because of a letter mismatch in my name with bank account's name. My name in Upwork is 'Ashish' but in the bank account it is as 'Ashis'. I have already changed my Upwork name and it's on process now. Can I use the same bank account after my Upwork name is being changed? Please suggest

After your name is updated your payment method should be verified as well and you will be able to use it to withdraw your funds. Thank you.

Hi Radin,

The help center mentions about changing your name to anything other than a recognized name variation (for example James to Jim) will require ID verification. The verification will be done to determine ownership of account. However, changing your name to that of another person is not allowed and against our ToS. If you have a Paypal account, you can use that, but kindly confirm your Upwork and PayPal accounts use the same email address. Please check this help article for more information about getting paid.

Hello!

    When i created my account i didnt knew that my upwrok profile name has to be same as on my bank account and government id.

I have already won a job and have several active candidacies.

I have already verified my profile with my government id and now upwork restricts my payment methods beacause the name on my bank accounts and id are same but my upwork profile name is not.i am worried should i change it now to my name as on my government id beacause i have to in order for my payment methods to verify.

Will changing my upwrok name to my official government id name have any restrictions or it will be just fine?

Mian, people make mistakes. It is okay to make a mistake and learn from our mistake and then do the right thing.

Just do your best. Change your name to your completely correct name as soon as possible. If you can't do that on your own, then work with Upwork Customer Support. The sooner you make things right, the better it will be for you.
