Is it a scam or just over cautious?

This is my first time on Upwork,

I accepted a job but all communications are on telegram.

They said that payments and project details are all processed on it and also there is a registration fee to make sure I don't quit before finishing the project...

This seems like a red flag to me.. or is it not???

It's a scam.

Real clients don't ask you to communicate using Telegram.

It is a violation of Upwork ToS for you to communicate with a potential client via Telegram. You could be suspended for that.

(Prior to being officially hired, all communication takes place on the Upwork platform.)

That's the other problem! I haven't been officially hired as well...

I'm gonna pull out.

Seems like a scam. Be sure to flag them on Upwork!!

Hi Koki,

I checked the job post you were referring to and it seems that it's already been taken down because it was in violation of Upwork TOS and action has been taken on the client account.

Please check out this post for more tips on how to avoid questionable jobs and please use the flag option found on each job post or message anytime you’d like to report a violation.
