Hi everyone,
Upwork is normally slow around August but usually picks up speed afterward. However, at least for me, we're just entering October and it continues super slow.
For context, I'm a graphic designer specializing in Branding and Packaging design, Top Rated Plus, 100%JSS, 100k+ earned.
I used to receive many invites every week, sometimes 2 or 3 invites in a single day. Now getting invites has become a rare event.
Is that "profile visibility" bug still a thing? I'm wondering if it's possible that a bug like that could've been making my profile less visible to clients somehow. Can anyone from support please check it, just in case?
Do you have any idea about what's going on? I'm curious to know if some of you Upwork veterans are feeling the same way.
Thank you! 🙂

Look, I thought it was just me with my 84 JSS. But if you're saying this with all your Top Rated Plus, 100 JSS experience, then it means Upwork is really in a bad state. Can you believe that I used to have many more opportunities at the beginning of my career and of the year, and now it just feels like I'm wasting time and money? It's incredible

Yes, RPFs are few and far between these days.
I wonder if this is a side effect of boosting.
Killing the goose that lays the golden egg?
Who needs that goose when connects bring home the bacon.

Upwork has become increasingly challenging for freelancers, often feeling like a casino where it's hard to win.
1) Legitimate jobs are flooded with invitations before they're even posted, making it difficult for new proposals to get noticed. 2)The 4 top slots are reserved for big players or investors, leaving others struggling for visibility. Luckily your proposals do get viewed, clients ask for unreasonably low rates.
3) Boosting profiles has also become a gamble, with fake clicks wasting connections and leading to low-paying job offers.
4) Over the last two years, the platform seems more favorable for investors, leaving freelancers waiting for opportunities. ITS DEAD...

Your post sounded very familiar, so I looked at your forum history. You made a post similar to this in September last year, and in September 2022 as well. Maybe September is just a bad month for you?

Get, used to it.
And yes, UW "veterans" are used to it also. JSS score has nothing to do with it, nor the profile visibility. No bug.

I’m encountering the same issue with the Windows desktop app (version 5.8.0.35). It works smoothly for about 10 minutes, but then the upload speed drops drastically. To fix this, I have to restart my PC.
I’ve monitored the situation using the Resource Monitor to check if other apps might be consuming bandwidth, but found nothing unusual. Additionally, speed and ping tests confirm that my internet connection is not the cause of the problem.
