Is it normal not to hear back after accepting the contract from a client?

Hello Everyone, I recently accepted an offer from a client 2 weeks ago to be precise, I was told my orientation would begin on oct 1st ( I accepted the offer on sept 22) since then, havent heard anything back, is that normal? what should I do.

Im new to the platform, and there are some things I just find odd.

It is common. Current Upwork is a trash site for cheap unskilled workers. Most of clients wont respect you and wont waste time to update you with changes.

You can write a little message that you still available. Dont be anoying. Take care about other things a while. Complete works if client will back. After month-two you can close contract yourself if you want.
