Is there any need to have a resume ready for responding to clients?

I've had three clients come into chat and want me to send them a resume.    Now, as it turns out, all three of them were bogus and violating Upwork's rules, wanting to hire me as a company resource and pay me directly.    They had all wanted a resume sent to them; does this happen with regular Upwork clients?   (After sending out 20 proposals, I still don't have experience with Upwork clients.)

Hey Karl, I have had a few prospect request a resume, however it is the exception. Some enterprise companies do need the CV for the interviewing process.
